scissor sisters @ amoeba (9/8/10)

Setlist:

Any Which Way
Laura
Whole New Way
Take Your Mama
Running Out
Comfortably Numb
I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

I love Amoeba. I love synthpop. I love bands who have a sense of humor. So this was win/win/win.

I'll admit to being a little surprised by the set list, though. Most of the in-store performances I've seen have focused almost exclusively on the band's most-recently released album. Scissor Sisters actually opted to play mostly older material, including the epic Pink Floyd cover on their first album, introduced: "Here's a song we didn't write. It was written by some old white guys."

Despite the fact that I didn't get to hear my favorite song from Night Work ("Sex and Violence"), I find it impossible to quibble given how great the band's energy was overall. This, despite the fact that Mr. Shears professed to having a cold. You couldn't tell by listening to him. That falsetto is the real thing, people.
